Insulation and Arizona Heat

An insulated door is the biggest comfort upgrade in an East Valley garage. Summer highs routinely pass 110 degrees, and a closed garage gets hotter than the outdoors. That heat pushes into any room that shares a wall with the garage, and it bakes whatever you store there, including the opener's circuit board.

Insulated doors use polyurethane or polystyrene between steel skins. When you compare doors, ask for the U-factor, not only the R-value. What Installation Day Looks Like

Before installation day, we inspect your current door, springs, tracks and opener, and measure the opening, headroom and side room so the new door fits without surprises. If your opener is old or will not suit the new door, we tell you then, so you can decide whether to replace it at the same time.

On installation day:

The old door comes down safely. The technician releases spring tension and removes springs and cables. This is the most dangerous part of the job and is never a homeowner task.
New tracks, hinges, rollers and springs go in, sized to the new door's weight. A heavier insulated door needs different springs than the hollow door it replaced.
The new sections are stacked and fastened, the tracks are set plumb and level, and the springs are wound and the door balanced.
The opener is reconnected or replaced, sensors set near the floor, and the door tested for balance and auto-reverse.
